The Olde Boston Tea Party played at the Ashley Wood Artspace on Saturday 27th April to a rapturous audience. The Artspace is run by Johnny Bull and Juliet Stallwood and is a top class musical venue with the added sophistication of Johnny’s delightful dry martinis.

OBTP score another great venue

The Olde Boston Tea Party played for the first time on Sunday 24th at The Somerset Arms, which of course is in Wiltshire, to be precise it is in Maiden Bradley, Warminster, South West Wiltshire. BA12 7HW.

The landlord was delighted and has agreed to give us a regular booking.

Johnny Butten joins the band

Johnny Butten joins the band

We are delighted to welcome to the band yet another great musician, Johnny Butten.  Johnny has been working in America for the last few years where he was officially appointed the Guinness Book of Records World’s Fastest Banjo Player (see picture).

Johnny is actually a virtuoso player of all the bluegrass instruments and it is an immense privilege to have him as a member of the band.

Gus York joins the band

Gus York joins the band

On 27th May 2012 we announced that fiddle player, Peter Orgill, had joined the band.  Since then the band has expanded further and we now also have Gus York playing pedal steel.

Gus is a magical player who brings a real country flavour to the band.

Venus Transit Love Festival

The Olde Boston Tea Party was warmly received at the Venus Transit Love Festival held at Walton, near Glastonbury on 5th June.  Despite the wet weather, the festival spirit was undaunted, much like the Diamond Jubilee spirit throughout Britain, where everyone enjoyed themselves and made the most of it.  At such times we can be proud to be British!

Two new albums released

We are proud to announce the release of two new albums recorded in Nashville in June by producer, Mark Moseley.  Bluestack Mountain Girl is Leanne Thorose’s debut album and features a stellar cast of Nashville musicians. With the same production team, Charlie Boston and Ced Thorose latest joint album, Out on the Ridge, is also released. We have already released tracks from both albums on the Hotdisc, the most influential media company promoting country music throughout Europe and Australia. Haselbury Mill near Crewkerne

The Olde Boston Tea Party lead the way in another new musical initiative, this time at Haselbury Mill near Crewkerne, TA18 7NY.

New proprietor, Roger Bastable, is keen to establish Haselbury Mill as a music venue with sessions on the second Sunday of every month starting at 8.00 pm.

The first event will take place on Sunday 13th November when The Olde Boston Tea Party will be sharing the stage with swing jazz guitarist, Dick Madelin and his band. Entry is free and there will be an opportunity for other musicians to turn up with an instrument and join in.
